A number of lawmakers are set to take to the stage Sunday in the wake of reaching a government spending deal to avert a shutdown.

Trump is also set to make remarks at a “Festival of America” hosted by Turning Point USA early Sunday afternoon after he and his allies scuttled an initial spending deal that included several controversial measures, including a pay raise for lawmakers.

Ultimately, a shutdown was averted. President Biden signed legislation Saturday to avert a government shutdown after a frantic week as the 118th Congress neared its end, making clear the strains on the slim Republican majority he is likely to face in January.

Regardless of the turmoil on Capitol Hill, Trump’s transition team is moving forward with Inauguration Day less than a month away. The former president made several announcements Saturday about individuals set to join his new administration as his inner circle takes shape ahead of taking office.
