Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Sunday that Israel would continue to act against the Iranian-backed Houthis in Yemen, whom he accused of threatening global shipping and the international order, and called on Israelis to stand firm.

“Just as we acted forcefully against the terrorist arms of the Iranian axis of evil, we will act against the Houthis,” he said in a video statement a day after a rocket fired from Yemen landed in the Tel Aviv area. Light injuries.

Israeli aircraft on Thursday launched a series of strikes on the country’s energy infrastructure and ports in what officials said was a response to hundreds of missile and drone attacks by the Houthis since the start of the Gaza war 14 months ago.

The US military said on Saturday it had launched precision airstrikes on a missile storage facility and a command and control facility run by the Houthis in the Yemeni capital Sanaa.

Burned at home by Israel’s military campaign against Iran-backed Hezbollah forces in southern Lebanon and by its destruction of most of the Syrian army’s strategic weapons, Netanyahu said Israel would act with the United States.

“Therefore, we will act forcefully, with determination and with prudence,” he added. “I tell you that even if it takes time, the result will be the same.”
