Although more than 3 months have passed since his assassination, new details have been revealed about the killing of the Secretary-General of the Lebanese Hezbollah, Hassan Nasrallah.

It turned out that an Israeli army officer was behind monitoring Nasrallah’s movements and participating in carrying out his assassination, according to the Israeli website “Walla”. It was also revealed that the officer whose code name was revealed was Major “G”, 29 years old, and was considered one of Nasrallah’s close associates in a way that was not revealed in detail.

Recording the smallest details

As for “G”‘s main mission, it was to know at every moment where the senior Hezbollah officials were, and to record the smallest details about their lifestyle, so that it would be easy to locate and eliminate them.

According to Israeli security sources, the pursuit of Nasrallah to assassinate him began shortly after the 2006 war, but the political decision was not taken in this regard at the time. However, with the tension in Gaza and Nasrallah providing support to the Hamas movement, Israel began implementing the plan to assassinate him more seriously, by misleading him and convincing him that there was no intention to expand the war with him.

“We will kill him”

As one of the officials involved in the decision-making process that preceded Nasrallah’s assassination said: “It was clear to everyone that if such an operation failed, Nasrallah would emerge from it as a god, portrayed as someone who had once again managed to escape Israeli bombs, and the revenge would look completely different.”

In the final and decisive discussion, which took place in the presence of the prime minister, Air Force Commander General Bar said the decisive sentence: “If he is there, we will kill him.”

On September 27, Israeli aircraft dropped 10 two-ton, bunker-busting bombs on what is known as Hezbollah’s security square in Haret Hreik, where the party’s headquarters are located, killing Hassan Nasrallah and all of his companions.

The next day, the Israeli army officially announced his assassination.
