A new face will grace the stage at the 2025 Golden Globes, and first-time host Nikki Glaser will have the tough task of keeping celebrities — and the millions of fans watching at home — entertained as Hollywood celebrates the national holiday. The best TV shows and movies from the past year.

Glaser, a comedian who gained widespread attention after her performance in Netflix’s The Roast of Tom Brady last year, has been tasked with hosting tonight’s awards show. She will be the first solo host of the Golden Globes.

Here’s what you need to know about this year’s host.

Who is Nikki Glaser?

Nikki Glaser, an Ohio native, has worn many hats throughout her career. Primarily a comedian, she has also found success as an actress, radio host, and TV host.

She began performing stand-up comedy at 18, and has worked her way up to gigs on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” “Conan” and two seasons of “Last Comic Standing.” She is known for her brutally honest comedy style and her raunchy, relatable stand-up specials.

Speaking to “CBS Mornings” in December, Glaser reflected on the long road that led her to the Golden Globes stage at the Beverly Hilton.

“There’s been a lot of hard work that has led to this point, like, 22 years into a career where suddenly people are paying attention,” Glaser said. “I’m at a point in my life where, you know, I’m old enough to handle that kind of attention and not let it go to my head.”

She has been candid about her struggles with self-medication, eating disorders and alcoholism. “The obsession with work is, like, not wanting to feel,” she told CBS’s “Sunday Morning” in a recent interview.

But she said she’s not worried about the pressure of hosting the Golden Globes. “I thrive on anxiety,” she said. “I like to feel like, ‘Oh, what’s going to happen?’ I love that feeling and I kill it when I’m anxious.”

What movies and shows has Nikki Glaser been in?

In addition to appearing on late-night shows and “Last Comic Standing,” Glaser hosted “Not Safe with Nikki Glaser” on Comedy Central, a comedy and talk show focused on sex.

She was also the star of the 2022 reality show “Welcome Home Nikki Glaser,” and hosted the reality TV dating shows “Blind Date,” “FBoy Island” and its spinoff “Lovers and Liars.”

She has had acting roles in Amy Schumer’s comedies “Trainwreck” and “I Feel Pretty,” and has appeared on competition shows like “Dancing with the Stars” and “The Masked Singer.”

Glaser has also roasted Rob Lowe, Bruce Willis, Alec Baldwin and Tom Brady.

The comedian has released four stand-up specials, including her most recent, “Nikky Glaser: Someday You’ll Die,” which earned her a Golden Globe nomination for best stand-up comedy performance.

“It was really cool to get the nomination and to prepare for this,” Glaser told CBS Morning about the Globes. “For me, hosting is No. 1.”

Despite the pressure, Glaser is excited about the experience and looking forward to her big night — whether she takes home the trophy or not.

“I’m going to do some after I hand out my award,” she said. “I think it’s a lot funnier if I lose.”
